
This fundamentals course trains Kentucky staff to deliver person-centered, Medicaid-compliant TCM. Learners practice engagement skills (OARS, stages of change; family/youth/consumer-driven care) and trauma-informed care with an ACEs overview. They cover crisis management basics, ethics (boundaries, confidentiality/HIPAA, and KY abuse/neglect reporting), and a plain-language tour of behavioral health diagnoses, co-occurring conditions, common medication side effects, and non-prescribing limits.

In plain language and real-world examples, this course shows you what serious mental illness looks like, how recovery works, and exactly what a case manager does from first meeting to long-term follow-up

This course prepares Targeted Case Managers to support adults and youth who have both a behavioral health condition (SMI/SED/SUD) and a chronic or complex physical health condition. Using Kentucky-specific expectations, learners practice plain-language assessment, co-occurring care planning, medication/side-effect awareness (non-prescribing role), barrier-busting for access and adherence, and coordinated linkage to medical, behavioral, and community resources.
