Through lived experience, active listening, and ethical boundaries, peer supporters can empower individuals to achieve viral suppression, reduce transmission, and lead full, healthy lives. Kentucky-specific data is highlighted to contextualize the state's HIV trends, risk populations, and disparities compared to national statistics. Special attention is given to the challenges of stigma, mental health, medication adherence, and disclosure, particularly within the state's rural and recovery communities.
